Farah Shawaf (Student)

Hello, my name is Farah (She/Her) and I am a practicum counsellor currently completing my Master’s in Counselling.

I have spent the past decade working in the mental health and substance use field. Over the last 10 years, I have provided supportive counselling to youth and adults navigating a wide range of life's challenges—including anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, grief, relationship dynamics, and self-confidence.

I believe a safe, trusting relationship is central to the therapeutic process. Therapy can feel incredibly vulnerable, so my first priority is to create a warm and accepting space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected.

My approach is compassionate, client-focused, and trauma-informed. We will always move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, with you leading the way. In our time together and depending on your needs, I may integrate evidence-based practices like cognitive and dialectical behaviour therapy (CBT & DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and narrative therapy. I also work with expressive therapies and can incorporate them if this is a direction you wish to explore.
