Shivani Thakur
Master of Counselling candidate
Hi, I’m Shivani! I’m a practicum student at Island Community Counselling, and I’m here to support you. I understand that reaching out for support can feel difficult at times, and I want you to feel safe, welcomed, and comfortable when we connect. My hope is to create a gentle and caring space where you can feel truly seen and heard.
As a first-generation South Asian woman, I’m deeply aware of how culture and identity shape our experiences. I believe therapy should be a safe space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. My approach is person-centered and compassionate, focusing on your unique story and needs. I use a holistic blend of evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness to help you navigate life’s challenges. I honour connections with people from all walks of life and am committed to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
