Our newest Senior Therapeutic Counsellor is Mina Ishioka, MACP, RCC, who will be seeing adult clients and couples in our Parksville office.
Mina’s first language is Japanese, adding to our diversity in languages of service.
Mina believes that every person holds the innate capacity to create their life in the way they desire to live. She also believes it is important for every person to have opportunities to be heard and understood. She welcomes and values diversity from all walks of life.
Mina has worked with individuals, families, and community partners in mental health for more than 14 years, including outreach, family group conferencing, groups, program development, mentoring, and clinical and community counselling.
Mina believes that counselling is a collaborative process between an individual and a therapist. She sees her job as a therapist as to hold a safe space for her clients to process their presenting issues, whatever they might be, so that they might learn to feel less pain, gain more clarity, and live in the present moment without judgment.
