Jessica Reid

Jess has counselled in career development services for over a decade and is a certified career development practitioner. Over the past two decades, Jess has worked in social services with people from all walks of life, including persons managing disabilities, women and children fleeing abuse, newcomers to Canada, and those with mental health and/or substance use disorder. More recently, Jess has worked with members of the 2SLGTBQIA+ community and is an active advocate and ally. When working with neurodiverse clients, Jess draws from her training and her own lived experience.

Jess has recently begun specializing in de-colonizing the therapeutic relationship and creating a collaborative and safe space for all clients, in particular trauma survivors. She draws tools and techniques from narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness based cognitive therapy. She is developing skills with play therapy for children and youth, with an emphasis on narrative therapy and emotion focused therapy.

Jess works under the guidance of seasoned supervisor and therapist Barb Aronchick-Zachernuk.
