As a practicum therapist, Gehad Khedr can provide professional counselling services for a low cost. As a bilingual therapist (Arabic and English), Gehad’s work will open up opportunities to receive counselling for many more residents of the Nanaimo area and, by online therapy, other parts of British Columbia.
Gehad is completing her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. She actively looks for the development of the whole person; emotions, social skills, spirituality, community, and relationships.
Gehad has long years of experience serving multiple rural and urban communities from the east to west coast. She professionally supported her local communities as a professional teacher, ECE educator, recreation therapist, and social worker.
Diversity is important to Gehad, and she is interested in different cultural contexts. Her early exposure to cross-cultural situations influenced and shaped the way she has lived, the decisions she has made and the relationships she has formed. In her practice, Gehad respects and values her clients’ worldviews as she supports them in issues relevant to identity formation, psychological challenges, social challenges, family conflict, and cultural barriers that affect communication. She builds culturally sensitive alliances to facilitate and maximize positive therapeutic outcomes.
She believes that everyone deserves a second chance in life. Her most important values as a therapist are empathy and nonjudgmentalism.
In her personal life, Gehad is a mother of two daughters and loves swimming, gardening, baking, and social gatherings with friends and family.
